Effective September 27, 2026. Chile High operates chilehigh.com, a site for exploring and comparing chile peppers. This policy explains the personal information involved when you visit the site or contact us.
Information we receive
- Technical information: Our web host and site security tools may receive your IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, referring page, and the date and time of a request. We use this information to deliver the site, diagnose problems, and protect it from abuse.
- Messages you send: If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it to respond and handle your request.
- Site administrators: WordPress stores account and login information for people who manage the site. Security tools may record login attempts.
Browsing the chile index and comparing chiles use a public catalog file in your browser. These features do not require an account. Search terms and selected chiles can appear in the page URL, so they may also appear in browser history, shared links, and ordinary server logs. Public account registration, comments, and email newsletter signup are not currently available.
Cookies and outside services
WordPress uses cookies for administrator login and may use a temporary cookie to check whether a browser accepts cookies. You can manage cookies through your browser, though blocking login cookies will prevent administrator access. We do not currently use the site to serve targeted advertising.
We use Umami, an open-source analytics tool that runs on our own server, to understand how the site is used. It records the pages you view, the referring site, your browser and device type, your approximate location (country, region, and city, estimated from your IP address), and the terms you search for in the chile index. It does not set cookies or store your IP address, and we do not sell or share this data.
Bluehost hosts the site and processes requests needed to deliver it. The site also requests fonts from Google Fonts; when your browser loads them, it connects to Google. These providers handle information under their own privacy practices. Links to other websites take you to sites whose privacy practices we do not control.
Sharing, retention, and security
We share information with providers that help host, operate, and protect the site, and when required by law or needed to protect rights and security. We keep information only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes, to answer correspondence, and to meet legal obligations. Hosting logs, email systems, and backups may follow their own retention cycles. We use reasonable safeguards, but no website or email system is completely secure.
Your choices and requests
You may ask what personal information we hold about you, request a correction or deletion, or raise a privacy concern by emailing email@chilehigh.com. We may need to verify a request and may retain information where required or permitted by law. Privacy rights vary by location.
Children and changes
Chile High is a general-audience site and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can review it. We may update this policy when the site or its services change; the effective date above will show the latest revision.
